One Pearl Bank holds all the Aces. The building of One Pearl Bank is already well under way and ought to be completed by the end of the year. The twin-39 storey, 774 unit complex at the top of Pearl’s Hill was built by Serie+Multiply, a collaboration between London-based Serie Architects and Singapore-based Multiply Architects. The two structures’ curved facades pay homage to the horseshoe-shaped original Pearl Bank Apartments, which, when it was completed in 1976, was Singapore’s tallest residential tower.
In February 2018, CapitaLand paid $728 million for the former 99-year leasehold Pearl Bank Apartments in an en bloc transaction. It is creating a brand-new landmark that will stand taller than the previous Pearl Bank Apartments atop Pearl’s Hill. One Pearl Bank, a tower rising 178 meters high, will be the tallest residential building in Singapore’s Outram-Chinatown neighborhood.
Units start on the second floor of the towers. It is 27 meters above road level and resembles the ninth or tenth story of a regular tower. Units are assured vistas as a result of the building’s height. John Cheong, the assistant senior district director for Huttons and the project lead in charge at One Pearl Bank, said that even mid-level apartments, such those on the 18th floor, would enjoy panoramic views. According to Cheong, south-facing homes would overlook Sentosa Island and the sea while north-facing units will offer a 180-degree view of Clarke Quay and the city skyline. The future Outram Park MRT Station is about five minutes’ walk from One Pearl Bank. A protected walkway against bad weather will be built by CapitaLand. With Outram Park MRT Station planned as an interchange for three MRT lines—North East, East-West, and the future Thomson-East Coast Line—accessibility will be significantly improved.
Sky allotment gardens are a novel concept that CapitaLand is introducing at One Pearl Bank. There will be 18 sky allotment gardens spread throughout the floors of both towers. Homeowners will have access to over 200 plots where they can grow their own fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The aim is to strengthen locals’ sense of neighborhood. The One Pearl Bank will be covered in more than 135,000 shrubs, plants, and flowers as well as more than 500 trees of 35 different species. Vegetation will occupy up to 60,000 sq ft (about 75% of the overall site area).
The “Renovation-Zero concept,” which allows the new owners to move in right away without making any renovations, has also been presented by CapitaLand. Additionally, a swivel table and cabinets created by the Italian company Ernestomeda will be entirely integrated into the kitchen. The premium Swiss brand V-Zug will be used for all kitchen appliances. According to CapitaLand, materials have been chosen for their robustness and ease of upkeep, from kitchen sinks to flooring and bathroom tiles. For each apartment, the developer is providing LED lighting. With the “Renovation-Zero Concept,” owners can rent out their units or move in right away without any hassle.
